Power supplies with EtherCAT interface

Power supplies with EtherCAT interface enable efficient and time-saving configuration, operation monitoring and remote control.

PULS can now provide from stock three new DIN rail power supplies with 240W and 480W output power and integrated EtherCAT interface.

The new power supplies with EtherCAT interface enable efficient and time-saving configuration, operation monitoring and remote control. To achieve this, the devices provide a wide range power supply and application data, such as voltage and current characteristics on the input and output side. The power supplies are connected directly to an EtherCAT controller without requiring additional gateways. This allows easy and fast access to all measured values and power supply functions.

Based on the power supply data, machine manufacturers and operators can optimise their machines in terms of efficiency and productivity. Real-time data transmission via EtherCAT makes possible the monitoring, logging and remote control of complex systems.

The power supply data is particularly useful in real-time control loops. Based on the live data, drives or other energy-intensive consumers can be controlled optimally to keep the dynamic power demand within the capabilities of the power supply system. This enables improved system efficiency as the power supplies are always optimally utilised. In particular, the power supplies enable automated responses to cope with unplanned operating conditions, which often led to downtime or even damage.

The CP10.241-ETC, CP20.241-ETC (both 24V) and CP20.481-ETC (48V) with EtherCAT interface also impress with PULS-typical top values in the basic power supply functions: efficiency of more than 95%, maximum reliability and lifetime, permanently 20% extra power at temperatures up to 45°C and ease of installation thanks to PULS QuickConnect terminals. All these features are housed in an extremely robust, yet compact metal housing with a width of only 48mm.

Key benefits of PULS power supplies with EtherCAT interface include: use real application data to improve the utilisation of end system; implement preventative maintenance and fix errors before they occur; reduce energy costs and speed up fault analysis and troubleshooting.

Three models are available: 240W or 480W DIN rail power supplies with EtherCAT; Input: AC 100-240V, DC 110-150V; Output: 24V, 10A or 20A; 48V, 10A; 2 x RJ45 EtherCAT ports; Rated to IP20

PULS offers all the documentation and tools required to integrate their smart power supplies with EtherCAT into customer’s automation networks, enabling direct access to the device data from the PLC or embedded controller.

This includes extensive documentation from datasheets, data- and interface-description to quick start guides, enabling a fast and easy integration even for users with little experience. In addition, PULS also provides the relevant electronic data files such as IODD for IO Link or ESI files for EtherCAT. As part of their quick start guides. PULS also provides sample configurations and programs for selected PLCs and control tools.
